Before a firm can start a project and get on with its construction, it needs to have a construction cost estimate made and provided to the customer that is employing the construction company. Determining the cost of construction before you actually start with it can be a complex task, since there are a number of factors that need to be considered.
Here are a few of the factors that have an effect on the construction cost estimate and they should be duly noted.
Similar Construction Project Estimates
One of the major factors that can affect a construction cost estimate is the company having experience of other similar construction projects. When two projects are similar in nature, their construction cost estimates can be based on one another and the final projected cost for the new project can be calculated using the old projects construction cost.
Rates of Labor
Rates of Labor can vary from time to time and it is one of the factors that need to be accurately considered in a construction cost estimate. When you are determining the rates of labor, the important element to consider is the time. If the construction cost is far ahead of the construction time, there are greater chances of labor rates increasing making the construction cost estimate ineffective.
Conditions on the Site of Construction
The difference in two similar projects is the site of construction which has an important bearing on the cost estimate. There are different ways construction takes place in hilly areas, wetlands, area with poor soil conditions and those that have a river or underground water. If the site of construction and the costs it will incur on the project are neglected, it is sure to lead to an incorrect estimate and breach of budget during the construction phase.
These are only a few important factors that can have an effect on construction cost estimates.
